DOWNHILL / UPHILL

DOWNHILL / UPHILL

I’m reading
the
news
My head
starts
spinning

No wonder
why
I didn’t
fit in
I’m just
too nice
for
these
times

You may
see
me
as timid
I look
at myself
as being
decent

But that
does not
get
me
anywhere
It puts
me
on
the
back bench,
sideline,
or whatever
out-of-area
there is

I’m not
the
peg
that
is
in play
at
the
moment

But
my
circumstances
will change
I’m not
content
anymore
with
leftovers

For
too long
I’ve spread
myself
to thin

My
uphill life
will come too
Actually,
it has
already
arrived
